Leavin' on a jet plane...
OK, maybe I'm not really going on a jet plane, but at the speed Kevin drives, I'm sure it qualifies. We're leaving tomorrow to drive to Eureka for the big Thanksgiving festivities. I'm excited to see my parents and brothers, spend some time at the homestead, and enjoy a Klima Thanksgiving. I didn't go home for Thanksgiving when I lived in Long Beach, and I stayed in the Bay Area last year for Thanksgiving, so I'm really looking forward to my Dad's stuffing and my Mom's bran muffins. Thanksgiving isn't the same without them. But we're heading north and taking the wonder pup with us.
I've been spending time reflecting on all of my many blessings; there are so many things that I have to be thankful for. I've listed some out (in no particular order) and am just thankful for this season that helps me to reflect on all my many blessings.
-Kevin (for all sorts of things to numerous to mention)
-the Gospel and its infinite atonement
-My parents, brothers, and grandma
-All my friends across the country
-My siblings-in-law and their kids--entertainment for hours
-Education
-The opportunity to travel, and see so many things around the world
-The freedom of this country
-The various forms of communication and the technological advances that allow me to stay in touch with friends and family easily
-Maggie the Wonder Pup
There is so much more I could mention, but I don't want to bore you. Needless to say, I am truly blessed. I think Thanksgiving is often overshadowed by Christmas, but at this time let us give thanks for all the blessings, big and small that we have been given.

Friend-iversary
Vanessa and I are kind of odd; I think we'll both admit it. We started, as kind of a joke, celebrating the "anniversary" of our friendship (loosely placed about the time we met). In Long Beach, we signed up for dinner coupons that one receives for birthdays or anniversaries at one of our favorite restaurants, and would go for our "friend-iversary." This year we celebrate five years of friendship, and enjoy the memories. We've lived together, traveled to Thailand together, taken tons of road trips to the Beach House, Eureka, and Utah together, and have even managed to move to the Bay Area together. We are having a little girls weekend filled with some indulgence to celebrate our milestones.
Our husbands are incredibly understanding of our get-togethers, and even get along themselves. We're lucky to have married guys the other likes, and to just enjoy each others friendship. So here's to friendship, and the ties that bind two people together like sisters.
And a special shout-out to Wendy, who hooked us up when we were looking for roommates. We're glad we could be one of your success stories.
Triple Threat
It happend, and I have photographic proof. There was an evening out involving myself, Katy, and Lisa. Except it wasn't strictly girls. It turned out to be a triple date, which is even better, to my way of thinking. Handsome men and amusing girl time. The evening was great fun and full of laughter. We must do it again soon. Plus, Katy, you and you-know-who should come around more often! I am willing to be the partner in crime whenever you need one...

Loved and adored
Yesterday I was checking in on my friends blogs, and found this little gem. It feels nice to be so loved...and wanted. To be fair, Kevin does not keep me hostage from my friends. He has his guys nights, and I have my girls nights; although we do have crossover events. I have to say, in my own defense, I've done a pretty good job of keeping my friend life balanced since Kevin came along. I don't think I fell too deep into the dating or married abyss.
But, my public is calling, and I must answer their cries. Girls night coming soon.

Grandma Tour 2010
This past weekend Kevin and I embarked on a visit to see my Grandma in Chico. While we were there, we painted her bedroom (Grandma has gotten into trouble in the past painting walls on her own: she is NOT allowed on ladders), since she wanted it done and could not do it herself. But best of all, Grandma FINALLY got to meet Maggie, and they hit it off like a charm. Maggie likes to jump onto Grandma's lap, and if she had the footrest up, then Maggie would usually curl up there. But they enjoyed each other, and Maggie is looking forward to going back to Grandma's house. She is a spoiled puppy. But it was a good visit; it is always fun to see Grandma!

Suddenly sporty
I enjoy sports; I prefer to play than to watch, usually, but I love attending a live game and being part of the crowd and sharing the experience is electrifying and entertaining. So it was a little surprising to me that I got so involved in the MLB playoffs and the subsequent World Series. I watched every game, had lots to say at work the next day and with the people at church. If someone asks, I am a Giants fan. I grew up in NorCal and they are the team for the area. I'm not as committed as, say, a Red Sox fan is, but I like to think that in my own little way, I've supported the Giants through the years. So congrats to the Giants on winning the World Series--way to bring the win to the Bay! And I think this little video helped the Giants on their way. Enjoy!
