the lily chronicles: the er version

the evening started out so promising.  we went grocery shopping, stocking up in preparation of our four-day weekend.  lily was our helper, running around with her purse, carrying things to the cart, etc.  while looking at jammies for her, kevin was holding her hand.  lily decided that was a good time to drop her feet from under her and dangle.  this resulted in (as we learned at the er), "nursemaids elbow," which is basically a dislocated elbow.  after much screaming and crying, we headed to the er from the grocery store (after a quick stop home to put away the perishables, of course).  we had "called ahead" through the advice nurse, and were taken straight back to the er and put directly in a room.  (future note, a crying baby/toddler in an er is like a fast pass at disneyland...you go straight to the front of the line).  the doctor came in, popped lily's elbow back in place, she screamed and cried for one minute (i timed it), and then all of a sudden was smiles and giggles and jumping on the bed.  i would not have believed it if i hadn't witnessed it myself.  it was like the past two-and-one-half hours had never occurred.  hopefully this is the last er visit (i only ever had one as a kid, so i like to think we got lily's out of the way early).

big helper at the store
(i love that she carries her purse around.
she even slings it over her shoulder like me. proud mama moment.)

unhappy (but finally quiet) baby

one minute later (literally) she's all smiles and happy.

walking out of the hospital under her own steam

this is actually the beginning of the evening;
she was very intent and focused on her book as we drove to the store.
it was hilarious.

fort point and the presidio--san francisco

for my birthday, we went up to san francisco and spent the day touring/wandering the presidio and fort point.  my geeky little history heart was beating with excitement the whole time.  it was an incredibly beautiful, perfect day, and we had so much fun.  i cannot wait to go back and wander some more.

walt disney musuem

i love a well-designed space.  also, find the hidden mickey!
walt disney museum

such a gorgeous day and an incredibly beautiful place.
seriously, sf knows how to do adaptive reuse on whole other level.

i love the golden gate bridge; it's one of my favorites
(and yes, i really do have favorite bridges)

the golden gate bridge crosses over fort point.  the juxtaposition
of the modern (1937) bridge vs. the older (1860s) fort was breathtaking.

i heart winding staircases.  also, i'm in love with the shapes found
all around fort point.

i could spend hours here.  it's just lovely.

april randomness

april was a good month.  it went by fast, but it was fun and full of adventures.  i'm excited for what may has to bring.  a few snippets below...

i love my people.

random updates from our friend jess (who watches lily while we're at work),
keeping us posted on lily's shenanigans.  apparently lily needed to
bring some friends on the school pick-up run.

lily decided to become on artist.
it might actually get hung on my gallery wall.

i know, it's crazy, but i am nuts about this pup.
she is the sweetest thing.

lily decided she needed to be captan of the "good ship target."

i felt a hand touching my ankle.  from under the chair.
1) i'm not sure how she ninja'ed herself under there without me noticing
2) wth was going through head?  i don't even know what possessed her.
3) i have nothing.  i just...i mean...no words.

isn't she just the sweetest ball of fluff?
seriously, i adore my maggie pup.

a little cousin bonding and sharing over easter eggs.
they're sweet together.

this describes kevin and i perfectly.
mutually satisfying weirdness is the best way to describe it.

this toy has been her favorite thing since grandma & grandpa gave it to her at easter.

i wish i could take photos (and this one was from the car as we drove by)
that do my state justice in its beauty.  socal has nothing on norcal.

when the cart is full, just make your own perch.
