Haunted House

I'll be the first to admit I'm kind of a snob when it comes to Halloween and all things scary and spook-tacular. For those who know me, my dad is pretty much a Halloween officianado and always decorates the house for the holiday in some scary manner or another. Tonight we took a family field trip to a house in the middle of nowhere that is turned into a haunted house open to the public. The house was pretty interesting, the atmosphere intriguing, but the proceeds are given to the Safe and Sober program at the local high school, so high school kids are giving tours and participating in the vignettes. The kids were all pretty much Paris Hilton attitude wannabe's (think of her voice saying "that's hot"...these kids were pretty much emulating that). It was kind of funny and sad. If we could have wandered the house on our own, it would have been so much cooler, and at least a little scary. As it is, I spent the entire tour rolling my eyes at these girls wondering if they had enough brain cells to graduate at the end of their high school career. I felt dumber for being in their company, and since I am starting school again, I need all the IQ points I have.

Youth

My mom is in the YW Presidency in her ward, so last night the YM/YW Halloween activity was at out house. There were about 25 youth from 12-18 running around my house for a couple hours. I think I am getting old, because I was seriously annoyed with most of them (and some of these kids I've known since they were in the nursery, which is another old-feeling factor), and they weren't doing anything extremely out of the ordinary. I am sure that I am just not used to having youth around, but for most of the evening, I just wanted to get them out of my way. I was not a happy camper for a couple hours last night. Seriously, I must be getting old. I am turning into that crochety old lady who lives across the street. I am annoying myself. Just watch...I'm going to get into a family ward someday, and be immediately called to YW, which would be the ultimate neener-neener.

I'm IN!

I have the best news! I just received an email from SJSU and I have been accepted to the Master's program for Urban and Regional planning. Things are working out and looking up! So come January-ish, I will be living in the Bay Area and getting into more school debt. Ah, well. I'm so excited right now. We'll see if that feeling lasts. Yea me!

The Age Old Question

I was talking with a friend the other day, and we were discussing the new and old Indiana Jones movies. My friend mentioned that she could never choose between Indiana or Han Solo. She liked them both for various reasons and couldn't really narrow it down. I have always maintained that I would prefer Indiana Jones, but some do make an argument for Han Solo. I know that this has been discussed to death, but since I have a little free time (and my own blog) I thought I might create a poll and perhaps get some "official" results. Vote early, vote often!

Home Again

I'm back at the ranch...after a super long car ride...by myself. I hate driving long distances. I'd rather be a passenger, especially on the long stretches of highway, like the I-5. It is long and boring with nothing of visual interest. I can only bear my own company for so long. On the plus side, I did arrive home with my bed, so I am feeling pretty human again. I love my bed. It is one of my favorite places to be. So comforatble. It was so nice to see the girls again and hang out with the LBC peeps. Thanks for the good times!

First time out

So here it is...still a work in progress, but available for the general public. I need to maintain my position in the blogging world, so I have started my own now that I am out of Bostonian Manor and off into the world. Wish me luck!
