Desperation

Apparently people have grandpuppies now. That might be a bit of a desperation stretch for the actual thing.

Playing Tourist in SF

I love playing tourist in my own area. On the list of things to do, is visiting the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. I've never been, and so on Monday, in honor of MLK, Jr., Kevin and I headed to the city for a little cultural enrichment. This place was amazing. There is a ton to see and do. High on the list of favorites for me were the penguins. They have their own little section of area to run, slide, swim, and play. I loved watching them. Throw a koala bear and/or a panda in this place, and it would have been perfect.

Another highlight is the rainforest they have growing in the middle of the museum. It is four stories tall, and has butterflies, birds, and all other plants and insect life growing and flying around. You are able to get close enough to touch the butterflies, and they don't move. Awesome.

This isn't just a gratuitous photo of me...If you look in the foliage, there really is a butterfly in there.
No zooming. The butterfly was just that close.

After the adventures in the Academy of Science, we headed to Coit Tower, which overlooks SF. It has amazing views and is just a very pretty spot. You can see pretty much everything from there, and it is just a really cool place to wander and see a "birds eye view" of the City. Plus, it has some great historical importance, which is what I geek out over. Kevin knows me well. But enjoy the pics anyway.

Not the best photo, but it was getting late. A view from the top of the tower.

The evening was finished off with dinner and dessert in North Beach (basically Little Italy). It was pretty much a perfect day. I love a random day of playing tourist in your own backyard.

Jeff Klima, Published Author

As many of you know, my brother, Jeff, worked as a crime scene clean-up guy. He was the one to go to peoples houses, places of business, cars, or anywhere there was a situation that needed some clean-up after the police and everyone else were finished. Some of his stories are amazingly funny, and you would never in a million years believe what some people do, say, or collect. But he saw it all and has captured it in a very funny book (I've seen some of it while it was in process).

And not only has he written the book, but he has also been PUBLISHED!! That is right, folks, my brother, Jeff Klima, is a published author. If you go to Amazon.com, the book is available for pre-order (I know, I know, it is a shameless plug, but he is my brother. I'm a proud sister). It is a little odd (and oddly thrilling) to look your brother's name up on Amazon and have it appear with the info on the book he wrote. It is set for release on June 1, 2010. But don't worry. I will keep you all posted on the happenings. And if you buy it, I can pretty much guarantee that the author will sign it for you.

Carrie was right

Carrie called me on it, and after a while, I finally agreed with her. My blog was too frou-frou (my term, not Carrie's), and needed to go back to "old school" style; mainly a relatively simple layout. After some internal debate, not to mention being annoyed by my own blog whenever I happened to glance at it, I decided to go back to basics.

So Carrie, you were right (there, I've said it).

Excuses, Excuses

I haven't blogged in forever, and there is really no excuse except my desire to not be "that girl." You know, the girl who only blogs about her wedding, and the preparation for the wedding, and the dress, the flowers, the ideas, etc. Except I think I am becoming that girl with this post. But honestly, that is what my life is kind of consumed by, lately. I have a goal to get as much done before my semester starts up again, so I'm not stressing about the wedding and school. One or the other, that is my mission. I've gotten a lot done, and you will be able to see my finished results in a couple months. Hopefully, that will be a nice end to my lack of blogging. But I will try to play a little bit of catch-up, maybe when I finally get around to downloading my pictures.
