lily has uttered her first word (recognizable to adult ears, anyway, and not in some strange "baby language"). and the winner is...doggy! lily has a love for maggie the wonder pup that maggie definitely does not reciprocate. in fact, maggie runs away every time lily gets too close. partly because lily has not learned to be "gentle" when petting her (grab-and-pull is more lily's style), and partly because maggie liked the family dynamic the way it was before lily made an appearance (so for all those who told me not to worry about maggie and lily not getting along, i say unto you, ne-ner ne-ner--i do have to worry about it).
but it is cute to watch lily squeal "doggy" and get so excited about seeing maggie. it isn't as cute watching maggie get the look of fear in her eyes and run away. hopefully someday there will be a meeting of the baby and canine minds and they will get along. maybe when the grab-and-pull stage is over. whenever that might be.

Finn said his first recognizable word today! I mean, he's said it before but today he just said it and actually meant it. Guess?
Doggy? Madie? Kitty? No?
Mumma. Loud and clear. And Dada is coming up pretty close behind I'd say.
Awesome! She has picked up quite a few words now that she's started talking! It's amazing how fast they go from babbling to lots of little real words! She was so fun to listen to this last weekend! Elizabeth's first word was mama. She said it and meant it months ago... she's kind of a mama's girl, I'd say! Either that or she just needs me to protect her from being mobbed by her brothers! LOL! All my others said dad first in some fashion, so it's about time I got mama first! She also clearly said grandmama this last weekend... "Mah-mama." I'm looking forward to when she starts really talking... I bet her next real word will be "brother"!
