i love being a tourist. it is always so fun exploring a new place and seeing what a city has to offer. i'm especially fond of playing tourist in my own area. there is an article listing the top 20 tourist places in san francisco. i've been to a good number of them (most before i had even moved here; go me!), but have some more to see. i better get cracking. anybody up for some adventures?

temper
i went to take a shower (my god-given right and necessary to my sanity!), leaving lily playing with her toys and books in the living room. when I come back out, i find lily has removed her diaper, thrown it over the baby gate, and peed on the carpet in a fit of temper. wtf?
i can't believe this is my life.

sleeping like a boss
i am constantly amazed at the different positions lily can fall asleep in. and stay asleep that way. you'd think that i'd be over it by now, but nope. i continue to be impressed by her sleeping position ability. babies are really just made out of rubber bands.

a wednesday and thursday weekend
lily and i turned a couple weekdays into a weekend and went down to san jose on wednesday to hang out with vanessa and ren. we spent some time in the discovery museum (more fun for me than lily at the moment, but she'll love it more when she gets older), and then went shopping at kid to kid. if you have one near you, it's amazing. it is a consignment store where you can get amazing deals on kids clothes. especially since they grow out them so quickly! wednesday night there was a sleepover at my place with a "fancy" ladies lunch out on thursday (ren was just one of the girls this "weekend"). it is always nice to be silly and relax with a girlfriend; especially one who knows me so well and for so long. and watching our kids play and grow together just melts my heart every time.
lily initiated her first kiss with ren; with a full-on open mouth. she's pretty forward. |
all dressed up for the water room |
despite the raincoat, she got soaked. but she loved every minute of it. |
fascinated by the whirlpool |
ren showing lily how things work. |
silly girl |
they found an almost complete wooly mammoth outside the discovery museum in 2005. it was so cool to see. lily, however, was not impressed. |
she's pretty portable; just naps wherever she is like a pro. |
love these two together! |
all dressed up for her fancy ladies lunch. |
vanessa and ren |
the dessert was beautiful and delicious. it was the perfect end to a fun "weekend." |

adventures in big sur
we went camping in big sur state park (near monterey) with friends over the weekend. it was lily's first camping trip. she was a trooper on our hike, loved hanging out with her bff, katriana, and did pretty well overall. big sur is amazingly beautiful, and the trip there was gorgeous; you travel some of the most amazing sections of hwy 1 to get to the park. it was a fun weekend with good friends and some gorgeous scenery.

lily knows how to camp in style. and demands breakfast in bed. that's my girl! |
bff's; lily and katriana |
rion is one of my favorite little people; his hat was cracking me up. |
ready for our hike! |

both babies conked out and napped during the hike. |

anniversary adventures
kevin and i went on an anniversary adventure this past weekend, heading down to Pigeon Point Lighthouse and touring the coast along Hwy 1 and then visiting Filoli, an incredibly beautiful mansion (now a house museum) with amazingly landscaped gardens. It was all gorgeous, and a very relaxing weekend. I loved every minute of it.
Pigeon Pointe Lighthouse |
We found this antique when we arrived at the lighthouse. |
I REALLY wish I could have gone into the lighthouse and the lighthouse keepers cottage. But, sadly, they are closed pending the site raising $10 million for restoration. |
The beauty of the California Coast. |
Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to live in such an incredibly beautiful area. |
A cute little church in Pescadero. |
Chocolate chip cookies as big as my face; delish. |
Harley Goat Farm goat cheese; I'm addicted. And the tour is super fun, too. |
Baby goats! They're two weeks old and leaping all over the place. I wanted to take one home. |
Filoli |
I love a beautiful banister on a staircase. |
White wisteria; looked beautiful and smelled amazing. |
I really do love a good staircase. |
temper, temper
sometimes things don't go lily's way. and that makes her most unhappy. tonight, she got in trouble for messing with the chargers for the phone and laptop, and earned herself a little pop on the hand. and then the cords were taken away from her, again, and she started throwing a fit. seriously, it was the most epic temper tantrum of all time. and i feel kind of bad that i was more amused by it than anything else.
