fridays with lily {oakland zoo}

i love my fridays with lily.  we started out the day with a doughnut and headed off to the zoo.  it was a beautiful day and i had so much fun with my little bean.

halloween fun...part II

so many halloween festivities...so much fun.  the livermore police department hosted a trick-or-treat trail yesterday evening, so we headed there after work.  it was such a fun event; the police officers and others who work and volunteer in the department passed out candy and led little groups of kids through the department.  they had decorated it everywhere and it was simply amazing.  kevin and i had some proud-parent moments when our girl was not even phased by the dark, creepy rooms and insisted on saying "hi" and patting the full-size skeleton. we're doing something right. :-)

tonight was our old ward's halloween party.  we crashed the event, saw old friends, and gave lily another opportunity to practice her trick-or-treating skills ahead of the big day.  such a fun night.

halloween fun...part I

halloween is kind of a big deal in our house.  it's even more fun now that lily understands what is going on.  the goal for lily's halloween costume(s) this year is just whatever she pulls out of her dress-up box for the day.  easy-peasy.  today's costume?  katerina kitty-cat (from daniel tiger).

we started the day out at the oakland zoo for a little "boo at the zoo" trick-or-treating.  it was so fun to run around the zoo, finding the clues and then heading to adventure land for a couple rides and to get the goody-bag.  this needs to become a yearly tradition.

after the zoo we headed to the ward's halloween party, which was held at a members ranch, just outside of town limits.  there was trunk-or-treating, carnival games, chili cook-off, nachos, hot dogs, and a movie on the big screen set up in the front yard.  it was such a fun night.  lily loved palling around with her little friend, evie, and those two girls together just make me smile.

kevin and lily headed to the our ward's father/daughter campout at henry cowell state park.  lily had all of her dreams come true: camping, s'mores, and exploring.

fall is here, i guess...

despite the 80*-90* weather we've been experiencing here in livermore, i'm told that fall is here.  accordingly, we have been having some fall-like activities.

first up is a trip to the pumpkin patch.  we wandered the pumpkins, had some photo ops, visited the goats, and picked up a couple items to take home.

i walked into lily's room at 5 pm to find her getting dressed in her swimsuit.  fall has been incredibly warm here in the tri-valley (think 90* weather), so when i asked what she was doing, lily told me that she was going swimming.  since we didn't have anything going on, i figured why not? we went to the splash pad downtown, and played around for half an hour.  it was still warm enough to play in the water at 5:30 pm.  fall!!!! where are you?!?!
